If it is slightly toasted in the oven and then pulverized, it results in a tasty mineral-rich seasoning indicated for brown rice and cereal dishes. Wakame is also a valuable ingredient for soups and miso soups. The esculent Alaria can be used instead of wakame in the preparation of recipes but requires longer cooking. Wakame also has the property of softening the fibers of the foods with which it is cooked. Soak the algae in cold water for five minutes until soft or in hot water for 2 minutes. Algae if left soaking for too long lose their flavor. The product does not need cooking but can still be used in broths, stews etc...
