Jar of pre-cooked sweet red azuki beans. These azuki beans have been slightly sweetened with sugar and are pre-boiled ready to use. Usually if purchased not ready they should be left soaking and then boiled and the procedure would usually take a long time, so using this azuki bean preparation you have a practical way to quickly prepare stuffed sweets and sweet side dishes. Red azuki beans are often eaten in a hot soup with kirimochi rice cakes (which you can find on our Domechan shop) in Japan during the winter months, as an end to a meal or snack. The most popular types of soup are called oshiruko and zenzai and are often served in traditional and quiet tea rooms. Try it on ice cream too!
