The fortune cookies are biscuits of american origin and crispy, usually prepared with flour, sugar, vanilla and oil. Inside the cake are hidden the "fortune", which are small pieces of paper that bear mottos and phrases prophetic, or divinatory. In the United States and in Canada (as in other parts of the western world) is usually served as a dessert in chinese restaurants. Within the messages can also include a list of lucky numbers (used by some as lottery numbers), or phrase with chinese translation or a rule to follow so we can be successful in a certain field. The exact provenance of fortune cookies is unclear, but various immigrant groups in California claim to have advertised, at the beginning of the XX century, the product, basing their recipe on the traditional cracker, japanese.
